Love that the outdoor swimming pool is open all year round, will be swimming most days. Staff are always friendly and very helpful.
I personally thought it was very dated. It smelt bad in many areas and the facilities are low quality. Also there are loads of random adverts for companies everywhere. If Colchester DL was half as bad I'd cancel my membership. I hope they keep the maintenance of the Colchester branch high going forward.
The new gym floor is absolutely amazing! There is nothing like it anywhere in the area. The atmosphere makes going to the gym a very enjoyable experience even if fitness isn't your thing.
Part of the equipment is constantly broken, quite old, need to be updated. Air conditioning is almost never able to deal with the amount of people. All this three months trial periods and get your kids for free is just annoying. You end up having people occupying equipment without knowing what to do with it. Kids on the gym floor without any supervision that is just asking for trouble. Anorexic people absolutely killing themselves on the treadmills. People not showering before entering jacuzzi, they just treat it as a hot bath. Absolutely disgusting. Benches in the changing rooms are dirty and revolting. Vending machines are not working. The only positive thing about Ipswich DL is nice staff. That is pretty much it. If you really want to sign up for a gym, don't waste your money and go somewhere else.
Great gym and pools, friendly and helpful staff. Family friendly environment, activities, great food. They have certainly upped their game. This is the 3rd time I have rejoined and have to mention the gym trainers are incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and thorough when putting together/reviewing training programmes etc.Thanks to Matt for a great fun and informative initial session!
